Management of Venite University Iloro Ekiti has paid a strategic visit to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti, Professor Kolawole Olubunmi Ogundipe, and his management team, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in medical education and training.

Leading the delegation was the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Charity O Aremu, who congratulated the Chief Medical Director on his well-deserved appointment, describing it as a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical profession and health care delivery in Nigeria.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Aremu emphasised that the mission of Venite University is centred on “driving growth and academic innovation,” noting that the attainment of this vision requires strong institutional partnerships. According to her, “a tree cannot make a forest,” stressing the importance of collaboration with reputable institutions such as the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti.

The Vice Chancellor further explained that achieving academic and professional excellence in Medicine demands strategic alliances with established medical institutions. She stated that partnership with FETHI would enable Venite University to align with global best practices in medical training and research.

Highlighting areas of proposed collaboration, Professor Aremu listed Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Nursing Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Anatomy, Radiography, and other health related programmes approved by the National Universities Commission, adding, “No stick of broom can sweep clean” and reiterated “strategical alliances and network is key to great developments.”

The Chief Medical Director reaffirmed the hospital’s support for Venite University, stating that the Federal Teaching Hospital has always served as a home for the university’s staff and students in medical related areas, assuring that such support would not be withdrawn.

He also applauded the university’s efforts in securing approval from the National Universities Commission for the commencement of Medicine and Surgery, noting that only a few universities are able to achieve such a milestone within a short period. Professor Ogundipe assured the visiting team of his commitment to consider the proposed areas of collaboration and to sustain a mutually beneficial relationship between both institutions.
