Venite University hosted Are Progressive Union (APU) on a courtesy visit to honour and celebrate one of her most distinguished sons on his appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university. The visit was richly rooted in symbolism and communal pride, reflecting the Union’s enduring commitment to excellence, heritage and solidarity.
The delegation, led by Professor Michael Oke, President of the Union, comprised several eminent figures, including Chief Peter Adekunle, Vice President; Honourable Adewumi, Secretary; Barrister Segun Dipe, Public Relations Officer; and Honourable Olowojebutu, alongside Honourable Idowu Oke, Organising Secretary. Also present were Mr. Dare Ajayi, Assistant General Secretary; Mrs. Adesina. Professor K. Aduloju is the Coordinator of the Are Ekiti Progressive Union, Ekiti State University Chapter.
Dr. Ezekiel A. Agbaje, the University Registrar warmly received the delegation on behalf of the institution. He conveyed the University’s appreciation for the visit, remarked it as a powerful endorsement of Professor Aduloju’s leadership and a clear indication of his deep communal roots. He also expressed that the presence of the Union not only dignified the occasion but reaffirmed the value of strong town and gown ties. Dr. Agbaje solicted for the support of the Union towards the growth and achievement of Venite University’s vision.
Barrister Segun Dipe commended the University for her visionary academic direction and insightful programmes. He praised the institution’s leadership for upholding values of scholarship, innovation and moral discipline and assured the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Union’s unflinching support.
In his remarks, Professor Aduloju expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honour extended to him by his kinsmen. He described the visit as both affirming and inspiring, noting that when a leader is celebrated by his people, it strengthens his resolve to serve with integrity and purpose. He called for sustained support through advocacy, mentorship and developmental initiatives.
He offered special appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Boluwaji, the Alare of Are-Ekiti, for his fatherly support, wisdom and continuous royal blessings. He prayed for the continued strength and impact of the Are Ekiti Progressive Union in the advancement of both Are-Ekiti and the broader society.
