2024/2025 Orientation Programme Day 1: Venite VC, Officials Welcome Freshers with Insights on University Values, Policies, and Services

The 2024/2025 Orientation Programme at Venite University commenced with an atmosphere of warmth and excitement, setting the stage for fresh students to embark on their academic journey. The event began with a lively introduction by Prof. Malomo, the Dean of Students Affairs, who extended a heartfelt welcome to the newcomers. He outlined the objectives of the orientation program, designed to equip students with essential knowledge about university life.

The highlight of the day was the arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rev. Fr. James Olaogun, accompanied by other senior university officials. In his inspiring address, the Vice-Chancellor extended a warm welcome to the new students, emphasizing Venite University’s dedication to academic excellence, moral integrity, and holistic development. He urged students to embrace the institution’s core values of discipline, innovation, and community engagement. Prof. Olaogun also underscored the importance of security and adherence to the university’s code of conduct while encouraging students to leverage resources such as the virtual library and health services.

Recognizing Excellence

In a commendable gesture, the Vice-Chancellor recognized 12 students who exemplified corporate dressing, rewarding each with a cash prize of ₦5,000. This initiative aimed to instill a culture of professionalism and discipline among the student body.

University Mission, Vision, and Policies

Dr. E.A. Agbaje, the Registrar, delivered an in-depth presentation on the university’s mission, vision, and code of conduct. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering a safe and disciplined learning environment.

The school Bursar, Mrs. Gbemisola Adegboye, represented by Mr. Kayode Aladegbehingbe, provided clarity on the school’s fee payment policies. He outlined the payment plans, including the installment options for tuition fees, and reiterated the importance of fulfilling financial obligations such as acceptance and accommodation fees for complete admission Tuition fees can be paid installmentally thrice for those students that are not financially stable to pay ones, 50% before first Semester Exam, 25% immediately after second semester resumption and 25% before second semester examination commencement.

Hostel Regulations

Mr. Ajayi, representing the Hall Warden, elaborated on the rules governing the Halls of Residence. He stressed the importance of maintaining order, prohibiting squatting, and adhering to guidelines for visitors. Students were reminded of the consequences of violations, such as fighting, damaging property, or unauthorized appliance use, which could result in suspension or expulsion.

Security Awareness

Chief Security Consultant, High Chief Olajide Dosumu, representing Venite Security Services Limited, addressed the critical importance of security on campus. He emphasized vigilance, effective communication, and collaboration in maintaining a safe environment. High Chief Dosumu urged students to report suspicious activities promptly, highlighting that security is a shared responsibility.

Health Services

The Health Coordinator, Dr. Ayodeji Aturanmu, presented an overview of the university’s health services. He assured students of access to quality healthcare and encouraged them to utilize the available facilities while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Interactive Session and Closing

The program concluded with a robust question-and-answer session, allowing students to seek clarifications on various topics. All questions were addressed comprehensively by the Registrar and other officials.

In a gesture of gratitude, Florence Omotolani, a Nursing Science student, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of her peers. While commending her effort, the Registrar provided constructive feedback for future improvements.

Day one of the orientation programme set a vibrant tone for the academic year, equipping freshers with the knowledge and values to thrive at Venite University.
